Rashmit Nayak
My name is Rashmit Nayak and I am a transman. From childhood itself I have faced a
lot
of challenges and discrimination because of my identity. School, home and work - it
was
not easy to prove myself everywhere. I was struggling to accept my identity and face
the
difficult times after my surgery. That is when I found out about the Mera Kunba
shelter
home. My life changed after coming here.
I found an atmosphere of safety, respect and togetherness here. I found help not just for food and accommodations but also for my medical and health needs. I found a lot of relief and self-confidence because of this. I feel stronger than before now and feel positive about my future. For me, Mera Kunba is not just a shelter but also a support that took care of me during one of my most difficult times.

Parth is a 21-year-old trans man from the Nalanda district of Bihar. He understood himself as a boy since childhood but did not receive emotional support from his family or society. He strove to become self-reliant while struggling to live authentically and undergo gender-affirming surgery.
While traveling to Indore for surgery, and amidst financial and accommodation challenges, he received support from the TAPISH Foundation’s “Mera Kunba” transgender shelter home. There, he found safe housing, food, care, and emotional support, which eased him through a difficult time.
